Akerele seeks funds for education of out of school children
The former Chief of Staff to the Edo state Government, Comrade Taiwo Akerele has appealed for funds to support government in order to give hope to over 10 million Nigerians reportedly out of school in affected areas across the nation saying the birth of Jesus Christ should not only be for merry making but a further call for show of love.
Akerele made the appeal as part of his Christmas message to Christians in the country noting that it is only when educational facilities are in better shape that children can learn in an atmosphere devoid of fear or threat to life.
He said: ” As we celebrate this years yuletide season, lets remember the 10.5m children that are reportedly out of school in Nigeria.
” The incentive Based Programme uses this opportunity to call for support to the Nigerian government in its quest to secure all educational facilities in the affected areas of Nigeria.
” We pray for a kidnap- free season for our kids across the country to enable us reduce the number of out of school children by 35% within a two-year period”, he stated.
